Hiring A Removalist? 4 Tips To Get You Off To A Good Start

Blog

If you're planning a move, now's the time to hire the removalists. Trying to navigate a long-distance move on your own can be time-consuming and stressful, which is why you need to hire removalists instead. Once you've hired the removalists, you'll want to take steps to streamline the process and reduce the risk for last-minute issues. Here are four helpful tips to get you off to a good start.

Don't Underestimate Your Needs

If you've decided to hire removalists for your next move, you'll need to plan for the trucks. If you're trying to save some money on your relocation, you might decide to hire a smaller truck. Unfortunately, that could create some serious problems on moving day, especially if you don't have enough room for your belongings. The best thing you can do is hire a truck that's slightly larger than you think you'll need. That way, you have plenty of space for your belongings.

Separate Your Personal Items

If you're going to be doing your own packing, be sure to keep your personal items separate from the rest of your belongings. Those are the items that you need to keep with you at all times. While you're packing, designate a safe space for the containers. That way, you can keep them separate from the containers that will be going into the moving trucks. The last thing you want is to have your important papers, medication, and personal hygiene items locked away in the moving trucks when you're moving across the country.

Label All of the Fragile Boxes

If you have fragile items that need special handling, be sure to label the boxes while you're packing. This is especially important if you'll be taking care of your own packing. The removalists will need to know what boxes require special care. Providing clear labeling will help to protect your fragile items throughout the move.

Arrange for Street Parking

If you're going to need more than one moving truck, or even one very large moving truck, be sure to arrange for street parking. The removalists will need plenty of space while they're loading up your belongings. If possible, designate the space in front of your home as the parking area for the removalists. Be sure to let your neighbours know that you'll be taking up the space on your street. That way, they can provide additional space, if need be.

Now that you're moving, you can use the tips provided here to eliminate some of the stress. For other helpful tips, be sure to talk to your removalists.

How to Maximise Self Storage Space

Hi, my name is Allie and I help people declutter their homes. While I like to encourage my clients to get rid of all the stuff they don’t need so they can enjoy more space at home, this isn’t always possible. To completely declutter their homes, some of my clients need to use self storage units to store useful stuff that they don’t use every day but that they do need to keep. Having helped a few people set up storage units, I’ve got to know a lot about how much space to hire and how to fill it. With a bit of know-how and careful packing, you can fit a lot more than you think into a small unit. I started this site to pass on some of these tips – hope they help you make the most of your storage space!
